A. Mission
State the PHA’s mission for serving the needs of low-income, very low income, and extremely low-income families in the PHA’s jurisdiction. (select one of the choices below)
The mission of the PHA is the same as that of the Department
of Housing and Urban Development: To
promote adequate and affordable housing, economic opportunity and a suitable
living environment free from discrimination.
The PHA’s mission is: (state mission here)The Housing
Authority of the City of Tupelo, MS is dedicated to providing this community
with quality, affordable housing that is decent, well maintained and free from
drugs and violent crime. We endeavor to
provide livable communities that are made up of a diverse range of economic
incomes so that the children of these communities have role models that are
visibly striving to make economic gains for their families. We are committed to
proving our residents with as many opportunities as possible to become
economically self-sufficient. The Tupelo Housing Authority will promote personal
and economic self-sufficiency to provide families the opportunity to make the
transition from subsidized to non subsidized housing. While accomplishing our
mission, all residents of Tupelo Housing Authority will be treated with
professional courtesy, empathy and respect.
B. Goals
The goals and objectives listed below are derived from HUD’s strategic Goals and Objectives and those emphasized in recent legislation. PHAs may select any of these goals and objectives as their own, or identify other goals and/or objectives. Whether selecting the HUD-suggested objectives or their own, PHAs are strongly encouraged to identify quantifiable measures of success in reaching their objectives over the course of the 5 Years. (Quantifiable measures would include targets such as: numbers of families served or PHAS scores achieved.) PHAs should identify these measures in the spaces to the right of or below the stated objectives.

density and create additional parking, common/recreational area for existing
residents.

Annual PHA Plan

Provide a brief overview of the information in the Annual Plan, including
highlights of major initiatives and discretionary policies the PHA has included
in the Annual Plan.
The Annual
Plan identifies those salient issues facing the PHA in the delivery of
services. Issues addressed in the Annual Plan are: housing needs, financial
resources, policies, capital improvement needs, crime and safety. The PHA has
attempted to quantify its responses providing a means to measure progress
within the twelve-month period covered by the plan. The Plan utilizes data from
the State’s Consolidated Plan including the CHAS in accessing housing needs and
forges a comprehensive housing strategy that addresses factors of
affordability, supply, quantity and accessibility. The Plan sets forth the
proposed use of capital funding.
